DIAL+ originates from the European DIAL-Europe project (2003), developed with partners including the University of Cambridge, the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics, and TNO. Its further development was supported by the Swiss Confederation through the CTI program under the project “Advanced Fenestration Design Tool”.
The software is organized into two main modules: DIAL+ Lighting, for daylight and artificial lighting analysis, and DIAL+ Cooling, for thermal simulations and natural ventilation. Its workflow follows a structured description of the building, from space and surroundings to façade openings. Dedicated sections address key parameters related to daylighting, artificial lighting, thermal performance, and ventilation, enabling a clear and methodical simulation process.
